Cheapest model in Brother’s b&W laser printer lineup. Uses the same toner (TN630/660) and drum (DR630) as many of more expensive models. If you just need the basic printer feature without all the other features such as fax, copy, scan and wireless printing, this printer is a great choice. Text copies are sharp and crisp. Toner TN-660 can print over 2,000 pages. The printer can keep printing with low ink warning. In fact, when its on sale, it’s cheaper to buy this printer than a replacement drum. I bought two these printer to serve as donor part for more expensive Brother printer models. I have used total of eight brother printers in last 15 years and none of them broke down, ever. I had to get rid of the older printers because I couldn’t get the OEM toners and drums anymore and did not have very good luck with 3rd party re-manufactured toners and drums, not because they broke down. The size is very compact; therefore, it’s great for tight spaces such as dorm rooms. Only downside to these B&W laser printers are that they do a relatively poor job of printing images but that’s not a problem unique to Brother printers. Most all consumer B&W laser printers do a poor job in my experience, including Canon, Samsung and Brother. For better B&W images, you have to get it done with more capable commercial models, mainly Canon and Sharp machines.

The printer does everything i need it to, which admittedly is not much. it gets used as a scanner more often that a printer, but every once in a while I need to print or copy. It does both well, but is a bit slow.
